The Morphettville Park Football Club, affectionately referred to as ‘the Roo’s, was established in 1958 and is incorporated as a part of the Morphettville Park Sporting Club which includes Netball, Cricket and Eight Ball. In 1959 the Club entered a team in the A2 competition of the old Glenelg-South-West League. The season of 1963 saw the club win its first A Grade Premiership and promotion to the A1 competition.
In the season of 1986 the old Glenelg-South-West League competition collapsed and the Club entered a new era in the Southern Football League commencing in 1987 – present. Over the years, the Club has put together numerous premierships, 24 in total, including 8 Junior and 16 Senior, with 1990 culminating in the Club winning our first A1 Premiership.
We pride ourselves on being an equal opportunity club with teams available for men, women, boys & girls. The Club consists of three men’s sides & six junior sides competing in the Southern Football League and three Women’s sides in the South Australian Women’s Football League.
Teams range from “A & B” Grades, Women’s Team and junior teams from U/18 right through to U/8. The club also offers kids the opportunity to get involved at the entry level of football with a successful Auskick programme – the breeding ground for our “Joey’s”.
When you factor into the equation the number of participants, parents, relatives and friends who play, watch or have some involvement with a team you can quickly see the diversity we can directly and indirectly reach.
Morphettville Park Football Club is responsible for providing an environment that is conductive to the development of our footballers. Our Club is a social community based sports Club which has a responsibility to its members through a structured management programme to ensure sustainability. Junior development is one of our key priorities at the Roo’s as they are the future of our Club and will ensure our long term viability and success. We have already had a number of our “Joey’s” (U/8, U/10, U/12) progress through the ranks to represent the Club at senior level, and with a strong junior program in place, this will only continue to build in the years to come.
