HISTORY OF THE FOOTBALL CLUB
1950's, 60's and 70's
- The Sporting Club (football club) began in 1957 and fielded its first side in 1958
- 1963 First A Grade Football Premiership in 1963 coached by Bob Rusby and gain promotion to the Division 1 Competition
- Late 60’s progressed to having three senior sides
- In 1975, fielded its first under 17 side winning the premiership with Wayne McGuire as coach
- In 1976, an under 15 & 17’s.
1980's
- In 1981, the Club extension took place due to increased senior and junior footballers – funded and built by the supporters, players and committee of the football club- new bar and clubrooms.
- The football club was a mainstay in senior finals series and dominated the junior grades in the Glenelg South Football Association and the Southern Football League.
2000's
- 2007 Sturt Women’s Football Team transferred to MPSC and adopted the name the MPWFC.
- Bill Chester, Gordan Hay and Lance Breavington Awarded membership to the Southern Football League Hall of Fame.
2010's
On the field
- Throughout this decade the growth of Junior Sport continues to grow at the Complex – Junior Football, Cricket and Netball experience exciting growth
- Mid to Late 2010’s junior girls sport explodes across Football and Cricket
- In 2014, first Girls Under 14 Football team takes the field
- Women’s Football SAWFL Division 1 Hat Trick 2014,15,16
- In 2017, Men’s football joins the Adelaide Football League ending a 30 year association with the Southern Football League
- Men’s Football play off in the 2013 SFL and 2017 Adelaide Footy League Grand Finals
- In 2017, advent of AFLW – 13 Girls drafted to the Crows. At the end of a decade total draftees from the club sits at 19
Off the field
- In 2018, Council commits to complete rebuild of clubrooms and a new oval design at the expense of $3.4M.
